"Otherworldly Window"

from $55.00

A mystical fern-draped window found in a hidden room at Iona Abbey on the Isle of Iona, Scotland, UK. The ferns grew inside the room while this 13th century abbey was without a roof. When the roof was replaced, the ferns continued to grow. These ferns, according to The Pilgrim’s Guide to Iona Abbey,  are an amazing  example of the surprise and resilience  of creation. They live on the moisture absorbed by the particular mix of mortar between the stones.

This is also available as a canvas print here.
